Sonja de Vries

Sonja de Vries is a writer, filmmaker, mother and activist. Sonja was raised partly in Amsterdam by her dutch, communist family and listened endlessly to stories of the Nazi occupation and of the Resistance. She also spent time in Kentucky with her father learning about and raising critters and later, marching in the anti war and the civil rights movements.

Sonja hopes to lead poetry workshops in the prison system when she finishes school. She lives on a farm outside Louisville, Kentucky with her youngest son, Devlin, her partner Beth and an assortment of wonderful creatures. She loves waking up to the howl of coyotes.
