Eric Sutherland

Eric Sutherland is a poet, teacher and activist. His first collection of poems, incommunicado (2007) was published by blacoetry press.

He has organized numerous literary events and is the founder of the highly successful Holler Poets Series held in Lexington, Kentucky each month.

He has performed at music and poetry festivals, conferences, and fundraisers; shared the microphone with national authors Julia Butterfly Hill (The Legacy of Luna), David Korten (When Corporations Rule The World and The Great Turning), Michael Schuman (The Small Mart Revolution), Erik Reece (Lost Mountain), and Ed McClanahan (The Natural Man), as well as Kentucky poet laureates James Baker Hall, Richard Taylor, Jane Gentry Vance, and Gurney Norman, and many other talented Kentucky writers..

Dubbed “Kentucky’s poet laureate for sustainability” by UK’s Appalachian Center director Evelyn Knight, his writings and performances are known for their passion, intensity and inspiration.
