Jill Kelly Koren

Jill Kelly Koren is a full time mother, a full time writer, and a part time rock star. She plays acoustic bass and sings in the folk-rock group The Chestnuts. Their new CD, Taking Root, features several of her original songs. A Teach for America alumnus, Jill has taught every grade from Kindergarten through tenth and frequently visits classrooms to talk about poetry and writing.  She was named a KIPP Writers House Fellow for 2008.

Jill is a graduate of the Spalding MFA program in poetry and creative non-fiction.  She is currently teaching a mixed-genre creative writing workshop for adults in her community.  Her poetry has appeared in The Louisville Review and in Women.  Period., an anthology of women writing about menstruation.  
She lives in Madison, Indiana with her husband and son.
