Joan Gumbs is a novelist, poet and short story writer. She is also a Consultant and Virtual Assistant. In her former life she was a Journalist, Real Estate Agent and Proofreader. Joan is a recent finalist in the Red Hen Press Short Story Award Competition and is currently working on her novel, The Jamerican. Joan is a student in the Spalding University’s brief-residency MFA in Writing Program in Louisville, Kentucky.
She is very passionate about writing and traveling, and also love consulting and being a mentor to young people. She has been published in the New York Amsterdam News, her college newspapers, and some foreign newspapers.
