Brief Whispers at the Corner

summer walks not reaching an exit
suddenly different yet the same
and here comes autumn selling yellow chrysanthemums
brief whispers
at the corner
with wrested hearing
congested with fragrance
I’m drinking rosehip tea to grow my own needles
to stitch together
every weather-beaten sound
each white frozen in white
almost naked
and here is winter – selling dates of birth
brief whispers
at the corner
