Lonesome Star

I long for you, the sad heat of your skin,
the flakes of skin in your hair,
your shallow breath when you sleep,
your sour breath haunting the room.
I long for your voice, grouchy, uncertain,
and your words that meant nothing
and sometimes too much.
I remember the loss of you
from planet to planet, lonesome star.
How will the winter end without you,
without the gust of you, air that you are,
the water, the fire that melts the snow away
