’A labyrinth is said, etymologically, to be multiple because it contains many folds. The multiple is not only what has many parts but also what is folded in many ways’, writes Gilles Deleuze in his book ’The Fold’.

In her new choreographic group piece Experience #1, Isabelle Schad takes on reflections around the idea of the fold, investigates the form of becoming in its manifold transformations. Together with 26 Performers from 11 countries that she has met in the last few years, she explores the relationships between embryological developments, its movement pathways, directions, folding patterns and its time-spatial proportions. Embryology is a study of relationships within a process.

In continuous flow and in constant evolution, movement patterns repeat themselves in its variability and difference till cellular organizations become an organ. In the group of Experience #1 each person is part of the whole – of the collective body and work – and in the same time subject of her/his own movement experience ; a social body that allows for subjectivity.

The comparison between forms of becoming and forms of organization in society becomes a consequence.

Within 3 weeks of shared practice they develop scores, organize and fold materials into a choreography. The practice itself is what implies community and togetherness. They look at creative, human, (in)organic, cultural or musical processes as an interwoven texture. Each presentation of Experience #1 is its own (and new) manifestation of their materials, their scores and research between form and becoming, sensuality and structure, excitement and abstraction, embryology and choreography, sound and nature, nature and culture, self and non-self, pleasure and dance.

!Artikulationen is an evening, where different creation processes and different creation places cross-over and meet. In the form of live-excerpts, the group pieces „Glazba (Praticable)“ (Zagreb 2010) and „Musik (Praticable)“ (Berlin 2011) are brought into a discursive dialogue, cross paths with a new present and the production Experience#1, that has been created a.o. with the performers from the 2 former pieces.

Different times, different groups and different research topics fold over another, yet describe a continuous process that has its own coherence and logic.

The artists involved look at creative, human, (in)organic, cultural or musical processes as an interwoven texture, considering their visibilties, forms and representations and bring them into the spaces of Uferstudios which become the place where materials are brought into movement. Those movements become a movement of exchange with the spectator : conceptually, bodily, musically, vividly.

This special evening begins 19:30h with a lecture-concert by and with Alain Franco followed by a
conversation with the public. Ca. 20:30h there will be a discursive Performance Dialogue with Live-Excerpts from „Glazba (Praticable)“ (Zagreb 2010), „Musik (Praticable)“ (Berlin 2011) and Experience#1. Further details to be announced.
